Grading willow and update on willow midge infestation

After harvesting our willow goes through the grading process. A time to go through each bundle and grade by size and variety to make soaking and weaving easier down the line. This process takes time but also teaches me a lot about the willow as I can see how each variety has done and what it looks like etc. We have had a midge infestation in one part of the willow beds over the last few years. I have been trying to get on top of it, but am not quite there yet. I chat here about the life cycle of this particular midge and how I hope to better it next year.
