An Iraqi whose first language is not English is appointed as Education Secretary in Britain

A curious feature of the British cabinet is that almost a third of the members are from families which have their origins outside Europe. This is in sharp contrast to every other European country. In Germany, for instance, every one of the fifteen members of the cabinet are of German origin.
