The acclaimend Swedish choreographer Mats Ek renowned for his modern Reworkings of the classic ballets. In this studio recording of Ek's highly stylised version of "Giselle", Ana Laguna dances superby as the barefoot girl who falls "madly in love". The traditional, romantic Rhineland village is replaced by a surrealistic landscape, and the supernatural second act is set in the harsh reality of a lunatic asylum, the dancers in strait-jackets instead of diaphanous white.
