This video shows how to easily and cleanly remove the prefilter and clean it without getting water or gunk all over the place.
Cleaning of the pre filter sponges can/should be done weekly or every two weeks as the PPI (pores per Inch) of these sponges are medium to fine,usually 45ppi so will collect a lot of muck relatively quick, as its designed to.
