It was 1996 when Berlin’s CAF crew began writing “graffiti go east” next to their pieces: a claim that gained visibility through the photos published on XG, revolutionizing an era and ruffling that part of the world. 34 years later graffiti has reached the farthest places in the East, enriched on the way with boundless cultural influences. In an interview from 2007 on Honet said of Eastern European writers “they have no fears and just laugh about our ‘human-rights’ countries”; perhaps this attitude is why some of these guys today are international top players in the graff game.
