Fans loved his portrayal, which he credits to his studying of the Susan Kay "Phantom" novel, and he will go down as a Phantom legend for sure. And his credits with the show are incredible, he first played Raoul in 1991, returned as the Phantom for a brief stint in 1999, returned from 2003-2005, then was the Phantom again from 2010-2014 with just one brief break in summer 2013.
