GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Avalanche | A High-Scoring Affair

The Penguins return home to take on the Colorado Avalanche at PPG Paints Arena in the second half of a home-and-home series. In the 1st period, the Colorado strikes first with a goal by MacKinnon. The Avalanche lead is short lived as Bryan Rust finds the back of the net. Half-way through the 2nd period, Compher scores a goal for the Avalanche, followed by another goal by MacKinnon. Before the period ends, Evan Rodrigues gets a tally for the Penguins, bringing it back to a one-goal game. In the first minute of the 3rd period, Colorado gets their two-goal lead back with a goal by Manson and then furthers their lead with a goal by Helm. Jake Guentzel scores by whacking at the puck, which was in mid-air. With Tristan Jarry pulled for the extra attacker, Lehkonen scored for the Avalanche.
