Film Dated: 9 January 1897 - 26 December 1897 Location: Honshu Japan This film features the famous Kabuki actor Sadanji Ichikawa (November 30 1842 – August 7 1904). One of Sadanji most successful Kabuki roles was playing Marubashi Chuya, a 17th century ronin from Yamagata, who was an instructor of martial arts and military strategy. It is in this role that we see Sadanji performing in the film. This upload of the film includes a normal speed version and a slow motion version.
