Titles read: "HOP PICKERS". London. An east end family gather their belongings and leave their house, pushing a pram down a deserted street as they set off to go hop picking. Commentator puts on a 'lovery' cockney voice. Kent. Several good shots of crowds of families at a country railway station, carrying their luggage and bits of furniture about. Various shots of the families on the hop farm, setting up their tables and chairs and settling in. Good C/U of a young girl lighting a cigarette. Good C/Us of adults. Three young girls in matching jumpers and turbans peel potatoes. Women buy potatoes and milk from a stall (on the farm?). Other women do the washing up. An old man shaves in the open air. Good shots of adults and children at work picking hops. In the evening we see a family in their makeshift home, eating their dinner around a table.
