Basically it's Alice's point of view during the cancer Dana dies she doesn't know how to cope and she starts seeing all these moments together in her head but once she spreads the ashes she finally achieves some sense of closure and realizes that it's okay to let go, that she will survive this loss because no matter what Dana's still with her.
