Excerpted from Pink Martini's concert DVD release "Discover the World," this performance was filmed live in concert at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland Oregon on December 31, 2005, featuring vocalists Timothy Nishimoto and China Forbes. "Anna (el negro zumbón)" is a staple of the band's live performances, and was originally heard on the band's second album Hang on Little Tomato. The song was written by Armando Trovajoli (also known as Roman Vatro) and Francesco Giordano for the 1951 movie Anna, an Italian melodrama starring Silvana Mangano. (Though the movie is Italian, the song lyrics are in Spanish). This version features Thomas Lauderdale on the piano, Timothy Nishimoto and China Forbes on vocals, with Robert Taylor on trombone and a trumpet solo by Gavin Bondy.
