Dwine is a big pattern-welded broad-seax inspired by the war knives carried by early Anglo-Saxon and Germanic tribesman during the time known as the Germanic Migration Period. A time when the movements of barbarian tribes on the edges of the collapsing Western Roman empire changed the face of Europe. We know little of these ancient people but the tools and weapons they left behind suggest a dark and complex mythology. The days of the week still echo the names of some of their gods – Wodan, Tiw, Þunor…<br/><br/>
