This is my bluegrass banjo arrangement of this song. Please also check out my clawhammer version. “Ghost Riders In The Sky” has been called by the Western Writers of America “the greatest cowboy/western song of all time.” Written by Stan Jones in 1948, the song tells the story of a cowboy who has a vision of red-eyed, steel-hooved cattle thundering across the sky, being chased by the spirits of doomed cowboys. One warns him that if he does not change his ways, he will be destined to join them, forever "trying to catch the Devil's herd across these endless Hundreds of performers have recorded the song, from Vaughn Monroe to Johnny Cash, Frankie Lane, Marty Robbins, and Bing Crosby.
