Hubbard's Annex is one of the oldest neighborhood's on Mackinac Island and the Victorian homes, landscaping, and views are some of the best in the Midwest. Some history on the neighborhood: Gurdon Hubbard came to Mackinac Island in 1818 working for the American Fur Company. Later, he purchased 80 acres and built a home on Mackinac Island, which at that time was also the second National Park in the US. (Yes, Mackinac Island was the 2nd National Park in the US after Yellowstone, another fun fact that many people don't know!) His home was destroyed in the tragic 1871 Chicago fire and he neared bankruptcy. To recoup his losses, he began selling lots from his property as building summer cottag
