Marriage Story (Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver) is a 2019 Netflix love story told through a divorce. Today, I'm breaking down the scene where lawyer Nora (Laura Dern) tries to convince Nicole (Johansson) to hire her in her separation from Charlie in an analytical, review style.
Laura Dern won an oscar for her portrayal of Nora in this film, and I think the success of her character can be equally attributed to the direction of Noah Baumbach. In the scene, Baumbach brings to life the cunning way in which the divorce process exploits pain until it's all that's left.
